Homework:
Grade 6:
1. Finish drawing, labeling, and coloring your Pie Charts and Bar Graphs; then
2. Copy the following vocab into your science notebook.  Open Notebook Vocab Quiz on these vocab words tomorrow:

  1. chemical change - when chemicals combine or break up to produce "new" or different substances with different propertes.
  2. chemical reactions - take place when one or more starting substances (the "reactants") change chemically into another substance or substances (the "products") . Signs: material gives off smoke, heat, light, or a new odor, or forms a precipitate. (substances rearrange to form substances different than the reactants).
  3. composition - what something is made up of. Ex: the composition of a cookie includes sugar, butter, flour, and chocolate.
  4. Monomer / Polymer - Monomer is a molecule that repeats and is linked to others to form a polymer, which is a chemical made of repeating molecules linked together, kind of like this:  ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞  Ex: Plastics.
  5. Percent composition - how many parts per hundred made up a material. Ex: One percent (1%) means one part per hundred; therefore, seawater is 3.5 parts per hundred in solution.

Grade 6 homework:   Activity 16: Elements and the Periodic Table.  Answer all questions, including the "Opening". If you were in the group of 6 early finishers, you have already done much of the work, just attach your answers of the STT and Analysis Questions to your homework paper. Answer the other questions using the e-book.

If you were NOT in the group of 6 early finishers, you have only answered some questions, and only verbally. This should be easy for you to show what information you absorbed from the reading and answers to questions that we went over in class.

The e-book to answer some questions is the 3rd link in the column to the right------>  (and can also be found at: http://ebooks.lab-aids.com/student-resources).  User name is Stamford678 and pw is student (as shown on the Resources for Students sheet that should be in your Science notebook). You should be able to find and extract definitions from the text for the terms "React" and "Reactive" on pages B-26.
