Homework:
6th Graders: (Per. 1):   Water on the Earth   (ReadWorks - Read and respond)
6th Graders: (Per. 6):   Water from the Air: Cloud Forests (ReadWorks - Read and respond)
7th Graders: (Pers. 3 & 4): 1-8 What is a Topographic Map? and 1-9 How Do You Read a Topographic Map? [Read paragraph, answer question(s)]. Due Monday, March 28, but may be turned in 3/24. Students have the choice of completing work today, today and tomorrow, or over the holiday weekend.

Parents: please note a new grading policy. Students who repeatedly and significantly delay in starting their work, when it has been assigned to the class, will be awarded a "3" for Citizenship and/or Effort on their report cards, effective immediately.
Explanation:  Since the first week of school,  students have been required to show up with their agenda, science notebook (including homework and current classwork), and a pen or pencil that works.  A few students don't start their work when the rest of the class does, though they are in class.  These students choose to not begin their work until they have been called out by the teacher, and given a "personal invitation" to begin the work that everyone else has been doing. The distraction caused prevents helping students who truly need help or fuller explanation of work due to the need for constant checking and rechecking of work to compare progress between students.  It also makes all the other students, who did their work in a timely fashion, to wait on the late starters before moving on to other parts of our classroom activities. So, repeated and significant delays in work starting has a negative impact on many students, and shows both poor effort and poor citizenship.
