Thursday homework:  -  Because some classes did not get this assignment today, I am postponing the Vocab Quiz until next Friday, Oct. 7.  No Homework tonight

Study for Vocabulary Quiz on Friday on the following vocab terms discussed in class:
  • Atmosphere
  • Climate
  • Mean / Average
  • Median
  • Meteorologist
  • Mode
  • Precipitation
  • Quantitative Data
  • Qualitative Data
  • Risk
  • Weather
How do you study for a Vocab Quiz?  Read each vocab definition from the vocab section in your science notebook. Then, close your science notebook and look at this list. Can you remember (most of) the definition (say it in your mind or out loud to yourself). For any definition you don't remember, go back and read it again. Then, close your eyes and see if you can remember the definition.

Once you have them all down, go back through the list and make sure you can remember the meaning of each vocab term. Repeat this until you know the meaning of each term well enough to recognize it on a quiz.

This is self-quizzing, a very effective way to learn.

Monday Homework:

Answer Analysis Questions 1, 2, and 4 in your science notebook. Those questions can be found on page E-14 of the SEPUP e-book (Link at right) or shown below:

1.   Recall what you did on each of the five seven days that you collected daily weather data. If you have your Data Table where you collected weather data,  compare your recollection to your data.  Which aspect of the weather most affected your daily life?   HOW did it affect you?

2.   Imagine that you are a meteorologist for a local radio station. Use your data from Table 1 and 2 to create a radio weather report that summarizes the weather over the 7-day period.(Period 7 students are exempt from answering this question).

4.   Which type of weather data- daily or monthly -  do you think is more useful for describing weather?  Explain your reasoning.
