Weather Unit Test tomorrow - for tonight's homework, look over the Study Guide. If you need it, the Study Guide with Answers is shown on my blog entry for Oct. 30.  (You may have to click on "Older Posts" at the bottom of this post).

Also, we discussed movement of heat, including convection.  So, be prepared to answer questions about the following

Convection is the movement of heat through moving liquid or gas, such as air. The picture above shows a Land Breeze, which is an example of how convection works.  Warm air rises, cool air sinks.  When this happens over and over, this forms a convection current -just follow the arrows in the picture.  So, a Convection Current is where gas (or liquid) is heated so it rises, then cools off and sinks, over and over.  
 A Sea Breeze, like the one shown at left, is another example of a convection current. (It is also an example of a local wind).
