6th Grade homework:
Prepare for your vocab quiz on Friday. You'll be quizzed on the following words and their correct definitions (ALREADY GIVEN IN CLASS):
  1. Weather
  2. Atmosphere
  3. Climate
  4. Risk
  5. Metric (S.I.) Units: cm, degrees C, m, km/hr.
  6. Customary Units: inch, degrees F, foot, yard, mi/hr.
  7. Meterologist
  8. Atmospheric Scientist - Scientist who studies the atmosphere, from Earth's surface to several hundred km above.
  9. Precipitation
  10. Climatologist
  11. Hydrologists
  12. Mean
  13. Median
  14. Mode
  15. Hypothesis - a testable prediction.
HINT: BE PREPARED TO GIVE THE DEFINITIONS OF WEATHER AND CLIMATE, AND DISCUSS HOW THEY ARE DIFFERENT.
  
EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES FOR 6TH GRADERS:
1. Make a full set of vocab flashcards, get 3 points on your quiz if you turn them in at the start of the quiz tomorrow. Your name must be on the first card. Flashcards can be on index cards, post it notes, or cut-out squares of paper; put the word on one side and the actual definition on the other side.

2. We still need Word-Wall word cards for the following words: Metric Units, Customary Units, Atmospheric Scientists, and Hypothesis.
Also, unless you already turned it in, you should finish: REFLECTION ON HUFF AND PUFF, Answer these on a separate piece of paper. It's due Friday - NO LATER! 1. Did your structure change from what your blueprint originally showed? Explain.
2. What are some factors that you had to consider while building this structure?
3. How did you approach this task with your group? What worked or didn’t work?
4. Would you have done anything differently if you had to tackle the same problem?
5 .Do you feel that each member of your group contributed equally? Explain.
6. How did your structure hold up against the force of the fan?
