Thursday
Homework:
Periods 1 & 2 - Make a 3 x 3 Data Table to show the freezing and boiling point temperatures of water in the metric and customary systems.
Periods 4, 6 & 7 - Copy the following notes into your science notebook (right hand side, Fat column):
Take Away:

1. Scientists use units of measurement to collect data.  Customary (or “English”) system units are used in our everyday lives, such as inches, feet, miles, pounds, gallons.  Scientists and most people outside the US use the Metric or International System (S.I. orSysteme Internationale des Units) units such as meters, liters & grams.

2. Weather events (ex: hurricanes, floods, tornadoes) pose risks to human life and property. The level of risk of a weather-related disaster changes between different regions.

3. Meteorologists, hydrologists , climatologists , and atmospheric scientists study different aspects of earth’s  weather and atmosphere. Society relies on the information provided by these scientists.

4. Weather is …_________________________________. (Fill in the blank.  You should know this or be able to find it in your science notebook).

Period 7 -Start your weather data recording.  Get information from one of these Weather Links:
- Stamford Advocate
 - Weather Underground
 - Weather Almanac for Current Conditions
- Weatherbug -  you can find cloud cover information. Scroll down as you look at the Left side of the page.  Scroll past captions that say "Top Stories" and "Today's National Outlook" and "Game Day". Where it says "Weather in Stamford CT".  There will be three small weather circles with sritging underneath that says: "Mostly Sunny", "Mostly Cloudy",  "Partly Cloudy", "Overcast", or "Sunny". Use these descriptions for Cloud cover.
- Weather Channel  (gives some information for cloud cover by using the drop down menu for US Radar information, then compare cloudiness over Stamford to the gray cloud cover key at top left)
