Air Pressure notes (continued):
Air pressure can increase or decrease for many reasons, including:
- Uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the Sun;
- Changes in elevation, temperature, or moisture.
Air in some areas has different temperatures, or different amounts of pressure and moisture.
"Air mass" is what we call a packet of air with the same temperature, pressure and moisture. High Pressure and Low Pressure air masses move across Earth's surface. This causes changes in weather.
