* Variations in the amount of the sun’s energy hitting the Earth’s  
surface affect daily & seasonal weather patterns.



* Local & regional weather are affected by the amount of solar 

 energy the area receives and by proximity to a large body of  

water.  ("Proximity" means how close together things are)


* Heating affects the movement of molecules in solids, liquids and gases.

Vocab: Altitude – elevation, height above sea level.
